It beggars belief, I filled in everything but Pay-pal won`t accept my card- that has never happened before. It is Visa and an English bank but, my address is in another country. This is typical why I am getting frustrated and I haven`t another card. like this. I am cross!!!!!!
Anymore tips or shall I just forget it'

Julie, is the card registered to a UK address? If so, I have used my cards and had the certs delivered out here no problem. If an overseas address registered, it may be difficult, not sure.

My domicile is here and I just get a regular statement from my bank in England.I have always used my address here and english card when booking i.e. flight home to see the family or paying GR. for instance.

Something else, they want 19.50 plus a fiver postage. I have just read here that it shouldn`t cost more than 7 pounds, surely they haven`t put their prices up? I am positive I was on the right Site too.
Oh dear what a to do,everyone else just "clunks and click ",I go "click and clunkkkkkkkkkk"......

Is that cos they are posting abroad? Seems a bit steep. Can you get someone in your family over here to order it for £7 and post it to you?

snowfairy

snowfairy Report 21 Oct 2008 12:33

Yes, I did wonder that and I would understand that but not the price of the Cert. itself. I think I must ask someone but you know how it is they are not interested in my tree and think it is all a bit over the top.I will think of something, but thanks for your suggestion.

Julie,

Have you ticked the box asking if you have the GRO reference and entered all the info : year, quarter, district, vol No(5a), page No(118). and you are ordering from this site :www.gro.gov.uk/

There are other sites with very similar addresses that do charge more.

KathleenBell Report 21 Oct 2008 12:57

It doesn't matter if you are abroad. With the GRO reference it should still only cost you £7.

It might be worth ordering by phone (this will cost £8.50p) but still better than the amount you've been quoted.

You are obviously on the wrong site.

One site charges £25 and says 15 working days delivery

The charge is only £7 on the official one.

Just aswell paypal wouldn't accept your card.

Hi Julie,

In the first thing you posted, you have given the year, quarter, district, volume and page number details. This is the GRO reference you need to order. Make sure you tick the box to say you have it.

Good luck.
