I had a query yesterday which took me nearly as long to read and decipher as it did for me to do the search.

Couldn't agree more! I do use my mobile to text but always use 'proper' English along with the correct punctuation. English is a beautiful language so why spoil it? I may be boring but so what??

Well said Eric - raised a good issue!
I wish people would leave more space between sentences! Even start a new line now and then!
Whatever happened to the paragraph??

I agree. There's no need to use text speak here. We're not being charged for the number of letters we use.

This will probably fall on deaf ears though as the offenders probably won't be reading this thread.

I realize that not everybody can spell properly but how about using capital letters when applicable, especially on names and places.

Vodafone every three months? oh when I worked for them it was every 6 months...shows that you need to keep checking in case the companies 'tweak' their T&C's

Checked my last message/call sent and it was just less than 6 months ago.

So I have sent a text to OH saying...

'Just checking'

To make sure I don't lose credits!

It's every 3 months...........with Vodafone anyway

Please check your mobile provider's terms and conditions. Most need you to make 1 chargeable call every 6 months in order to stay 'live on the network'. You don't and they have the right to disconnect your mobile and pocket your balance...not fair but legal

I use Vodafone pay as you go and £10 lasts me well over 6 months. I don't think there is a limit to how long you can have the credit. I have never lost my credits and I think I have only topped up once this year.

Only 6 Months!!!!

My £10 'pay as you go' has been going for nearly a year.....And still over £6 left.

*** Wonders if there is a time limit and will lose her credits***

Totally agree with all the comments.

If I can not read the question then I lose interest completely and that then puts me off trying to help.

A liitle bit of punctuation helps too !!!

It's tough trying to read somone's request, if it looks like a stream of consciousness and there is no separation of names, dates etc etc. I always like to help but sometimes I can't even work out the question !!

Yes please us oldies don't don't know what u r on about.

Sorry Eric couldn't resist that one but I do agree with you entirely, I also hate text speak and mobile phones in general.

When I'm in, I'm in, when I'm out there's an answering machine but I do carry one in the car should I ever get stuck. I only use it for an alarm clock if I have to stay out overnight. I put £10 a time in it and it lasts me about 6 months.

Couldn't agree more Eric. Text speak drives me mad and I'm put off helping because it takes me longer to work out what is being said.

on the boards. 'Text speak' should be limited to those wretched mobile phones. Thank you.
