You've bought the gold subscription have you?

That's not as bad as buying credits.

I use Ancestry but that's because I have a subscrption. You have to register for Ancestry but can just be a free member to view the 1881 and some BMD's.

Familysearch is also good but you can only put the county of birth for searching not the actual place.

I have, actually. I've bought unlimited credits until February 2009. I didn't realise there was a free way to do it!! Which one do you use most or do you use them both?

The 1881 is free on both Ancestry and Familysearch, that's why it isn't on Genes because they can't charge you to view.

Hope you aren't buying credits for GR as it is a very expensive way.

Here he is in 1871, Emma is daughter unmarried and it says Mary is his daughter also.

Maybe Mary was Emma's daughter!

I thought it strange tha they were both of the same age but it says John Evans was a visitor so it looks as though he was bringing up 5 children on his own, the youngest being Thomas who was 1. How can I find out his real age? Obviously you were right about Mary Evans being his wife so she could only have died during or just after childbirth. I've only recently started doing the family tree so I'm still a novice at finding the right way to get the info I need.

Andrew I am so sorry, you are probably right, they were in St., Pancras, London in 1871. I was getting mixed up with Williams father, Richard who was in Shropshire in 1851. I can't find his wife either and I haven't even got a christian name for her. He was a widower in 1851.
