It usually means an owner of land, but don't get too excited cos it could mean just enough to keep a few chickens on. |

ah so in this case, it probably means that he farmed the land but didnt own it, he just rented it from a large landowner (I mean the land was large, not the man!). |

Can anyone tell me what the term Yeoman means on the occupation column of the census? |
