well I was looking at the 1881 census for one of mine and thought there was a mistake to see two Johns on there .one aged 4 and one aged one, thought was an enumerator mistake but NO ,they did name two boys John .one after the other,one was John Joseph and the other John Herbert and each John was later known by their second name. |

Yes, Peter you are probably right, there is a marginal correction. I think its strange parents named 2 sons John, do you? |

Has anyone come across the words "No 1" or "No One" above a name on a birth certificate. I guess it means number one, but in this case it was the 2nd John born within 2 years to same parents, so Im confused. |
