Thanks for all the replies. My friend's mother was adopted in 1951. I always assumed there would be a second entry following the adoption so thanks for that Glen. |

My Mum was adopted in 1943 she had her adoption cert which gave details of the couple who adopted her, |

A post adoption certificate (in the adoptive name) would have been issued after the adoption order was granted and finalised but they don't appear in the bmd index. |
