Does Gedcom take a long to export.
I started exporting my tree last night at 8.00 and it is 9.30 the following morning.
Thank You.,
I have 38 people in my tree.
Also how can i send my gedcom to my releative.

I started to export my tree, but eventually after about 3-4 hours I gave up I have 511 relatives in my tree.

I can't understand why it is taking that long.

When you export iit is sent to your registered email address, you can then save it onto your hard drive or onto a cd or memory stick. Or you can email the gedcom file if they have internet access and an email address.

When you export your tree from GR it get's e-mailed to you. Usually takes minutes not hours so might be worth trying again.

You can send it via e-mail/on cd etc but they will need some software to read it. PAF is free and easy to use so that's probably the best.

The e-mail you get from GR will have your gedcom attached to it.

Are you sure that it has not gone into your spam folder.

If you have not received the file by Monday morning I would contact GR, it does play up a bit sometimes.

I've just imported a new version of my tree and it has taken longer than usual so maybe there is an issue with GR at the moment?

Nor has my import been processed - sounds like there is some problem which i would imagine won't be fixed until after the weekend.

Could it be that the Gedcoms are not sent automatically but need human involvement?
If so normal office hours apply.

It should be an automatic process but bear in mind that the GR site is used most heavily at the weekend so the demands on the servers are at their greatest.

If anything goes awry with the site or tree builder (and with GR that means just about all the time!!) then there is virtually no techie work done at weekends
