Thanks for the help to everyone who has replied. I think Kate is right about the transcription error. Wife's name is Ann in subsequent census records which points to Ann Mummery, especially with Margaret Mummery lodging with the family in 1871. Seems to be a lot of transcription errors with this name....found references under Cadwell and Padwell ! |

Going by the 1871 census I'd say his wife was Ann Mummery. |

Sounds as if his page reference could have been wrongly transcribed. |

It just means that the spouse hasn't been transcribed yet. You will have to order the certificate if you want to find her name. |

I would appreciate anyone's thoughts on a puzzling problem. I am trying to establish the marraige partner of John Kadwell, born West Ashford, Kent in 1848. I have identified the likely marriage match in West Ashford in 1868 (ref 2a 1012) but there seem to be no others on the page. |
