scottish vehicle reg question.... from 1940's/50's

i wonder if anyone can steer me in the right direction, i have a picture of my mums birth mum, and she used to clean buses, the picture is of her in front of some buses and we would like to know roughly when the picture was taken, where would i need to look to find out a year from a registration plate. |

I am fairly sure that 'WG' refers to the place/area of issue. In my old police yearly diary I had a list of every combination of the older reg numbers eg... KKD 371N was issued in Liverpool etc. (before computors took over) But not so sure about the ones you have. It is very possible the first letter relates to a year. |

By googling I found that WG was Stirling until 1974 and then was Sheffied. Found several references to the reversing of the numbers and letters in the 1950s but it looks as if different areas changed at different times. |
