You need the GRO ref and you have to tick the box on the GRO site to say the ref is known. |

Tried GRO they want £25, cannot see £7 mentioned anywhere. Tried the other way through local register office at Islington wher my great grandmother was born in 1865, but they don't have records that far back. Help, I must be doing something wrong! |

That's a bit strong Valerie. The GRO isn't the only official source of certificates, in fact the originals are not held by the GRO anyway and they have some missing records. |

As I am quite new to all this, can someone tell me the cheapest way to get copies of birth,death and marriage certificates. The one I have found costs £25, seems a bit dear to me! |
