Their looks to be a cemetery just off York road,

On google earth, Where the road goes north off york road up to wood street just on the corner as the road bends round to the right onto wood street, their is a building that looks like a church and at the back, of the church their is what looks like a cemetery, with graves that are at the back of the houses on wood street and extends to the west of the church

Hi Simon,

I used to live in Church Gresley as a kid. I know there is a large cemetry in the centre of the village, unfortunatley i cannot remember the name of the road.

I did find this though;

Church Gresley, York Road Cemetery 1880 - 1983.

Looking at the dates I would presume it is still there!!!!!

Best of luck ,
Dee

I can't say for sure but it might possibly be shrouded by trees, there looks to be a possible site on the opposite side to the tennis court and cricket pitch but it isn't all that clear.

If you need a picture of the parish church (St George and St Mary) then you can copy the image from the FTF Places Of Worship project.

Question for any one who lives in the Church Gresley area of Derbyshire. I have a few of my ancestors buried in the York road cemetery , Church Gresley and hope to visit the place in the near future.

Problem is , I have viewed York road on Google maps ,but I can not see any cemetery.Is it still there ?

Thanks

Simon
