Is ttere any way I can find out the the correct one, I have found two references in the death indexes for an ancestor, both of the same name and age, how can I find out which is the correct one without purchasing a certificate? |

a death cert then wont give you her maiden name if she was married she would be described as wife or widow of and her husbands name |

you could order a cert and specify her husbands name as a check point if its not correct you get a £4 refund ie you pay £3 for the search |

Yes, I got a death certificate from Leicester register office, too - you can download application forms from the city council's website. I just filled out what I knew and two or three days later, they sent my great-aunty's death certificate. |

If it's the city of Leicester, I think this is the right address: |

You could apply to the local (Leicester) office and ask them to supply the certificate, quote the name, age, district, year and quarter (the GRO reference means nothing to the local office so don't quote that). |
