Just wondered if anyone would know why a death in May 1997 would be registered a year later April 1998. |

A funeral can't take place until the death certificate is issued, so I'm not sure why that would be unless corrections were made later. |

Post mortem needed? Autopsy? Possible murder or other suspicious cirumstanes? What does the death certificate say? |

Like Margaret, I would suggest there was an inquest or suspicious circumstances. |

When our son died the coroner gave the go ahead for his funeral but all arrangements were between his department and the funeral directors and we were given a very simple death certificate |

Thanks everyone, yes there was an inquest that didn't take place until the following year. |
