You don't have to make an appointment as such but do usually need to book a fiche reader or a PC. And yes, you do need to go to the County Records Office for whichever county your ancestor was from. |

Thanx for that Sam, having never visited a records office, I presume you must have to make an appointment, and I take it the records office will be in that area your searching? |

The further back you get, the less records are available online. You will need to visit the Records Office that covers the area concerned to check the parish records but check before you go, some older records didn't survive. |

Where else would you search for relatives in the mid to late 1700s if you can't find any trace of them in the IGI? |
