how and why my computer would decide to dial up the ISP all by itself when I am watching TV? Last night when I was watching TV I thought I heard it dial up but decided it must be something on the TV, however when I came to my computer I found it was connected to the internet, and I am sure I had disconnected before I went to watch TV. |

Huia, if it is dialling itself, it may be possible that you are infected with one of the "auto dialer" virus. |

Did you have any programs running and if so what were they? |

Is there any chance you can move to broadband? That will eliminate dial up concerns altogether. |

Peter, I doubt if I could get broadband where I am, even if I could afford it. It costs 3 times as much as dial up. |
