The price of the dollar makes Ancestry.com cheaper.

ancestry.co.uk is ripping us off: the subs are virtually twice the price of ancestry.com and yet they do not allow us access to US or other countries without paying substantially extra! Yet .com has inclusive access to UK records

Rant over

Sue, if its only one person, its not worth buying the .com - someone on here will check it out. But do take the free trial for ancestry.co.uk

Hi Rose

Lorraine was kind enough to have a look for me but found nothing - said I could get in touch with her again when I have husband's surname.
Have sent you a pm
Many thanks

Hi Rose

Was hoping to find out surname of the American our relation married from an aunt. He would have been born in 1930s so was hoping I could trace back from there. Maybe I'm being a bit optimistic !!

Hi Heather

You are right -I realise now that I should have taken an Ancestry subscription from the beginning It just seemed so much money at the time. Have looked back and seen how much I have spent on credits on GR and Find My Past !!

The 1880 US census is free on Familysearch.

What time frame are you looking at? If it's after 1930 you won't find much.

.com has the UK records aswell as US.

Check to see if you can get a free trial on .com as unless most of your rellies are in the USA, youll probably be able to clear a lot up in the trial period.
Oh and its well worth the money - really it is - the cost over a year what just over a quid a week - compare that to the units on here - and with ancestry you have 24/7 usage, no restrictions PLUS lots of other records to check out.

Hi Heather

Hi Pam

Thanks for your reply. Wasn't sure how much info they had on Ancestry for USA and its so expensive. I think you are right - will do 14 day free trial and see how it goes

You should sub to ancestry.com though, not co.uk

Hi Susan, i think if you have relations in here in America it would be a good idea to subscribe to Ancestry, they have Census record's from 1790-1930, maybe you should try the 14 day free trial?

Grateful for any advice on researching relations in America please. Would it be worth subscribing to Ancestry ?

Kind regards
Sue
