Are you looking at the full birth indexes and not just the FreeBMD ones?

The "full' index is not "full" or "complete" ...I'm not on it but my siblings are..if you have your original birth certificate then it should have your mother's name on it and the area of the country that you were born in - that's where you will have to start from

yellowmum

yellowmum Report 16 May 2008 00:25

I know where i was born and my birth mothers name but out of curiosity i looked for my details and they weren't there.... this makes me question other people i have looked for on ancestry !!

Had an idea!...if you were born late 1965...maybe your birth wasnt reg untill 1966!

Remember..Parents have 6 weeks to reg a birth...

Hi
Your adoptive name will not be listed in the birth register... however, it will be listed in the Adopted Children Register.
Glad Gerri found your birth listing :-)

Cheers Gerry

I have found that people born early in the quarter are still sometimes not on the register until the next quarter. It can be very confusing and worrying. I found the same with my birth that although I was born in November of '62 I wasn't on the list until Jan-Feb-Mar of '63.

MrsBucketBouquet Report 16 May 2008 08:49

Ancestry is fully transcribed but....some pages are filed in the wrong order.

So your all on there.....somewhere.

Each year as you know is in 4 quarters.

If your name is 'SMITH' and you find that your quarter is missing on Ancestry........try changing the surname to...say....'SMITHETTE'......when the page opens on page 84...go '<BACK' untill you come back to 'SMITH' on say page 80.

Hope this helps those lost in cyber space.
