Hi Reggie,
Thanks for keeping on the case.
Thomas Foot, father, was a labourer and not a witness a the wedding.
The mothers maiden name was O'Connor.
The other siblings were registered in Southwark or Camberwell.
The weddin took place in St Marks Church in Camberwell,London on 20th April 1930.
Residence at time of marriage was Dartnell Road, Camberwell.
Hope this info will help you to help me.
Thanks again

You say they were twins...........but there's no documentary proof as far as one can tell.

Thomas must have been one of the marriage witnesses.........is that correct?

BTW, what was his occupation?

Do you know the mother's maiden name?

One vital piece of info which seems to be missing.......where were these births likely to have occurred?

Reggie,
Yes,Thomas was alive when Jane married.

Island,
I too am wondering if Solly was a nickname.
Info for both Reggie and Island,
Solly and Jane were twins.

Was Thomas around when they married?

PomPom Report 30 Apr 2008 15:05

Island,
I don't know what his given name was, that is why I posted this thread to see if anyone else would know.
I am aware that Solly should be short for Solomon, I don't know where this would have come from,I do have a couple of Isaac's. By the way Solly maternal grandmother was German.

Hi Reggie
Janes father was called Thomas Foot
She was married on 24th April 1930 and the certificate states she was 19, however her birthday was in June.

What was the name of Jane's father?

PomPom

PomPom Report 30 Apr 2008 14:29

Hi Reggie and Island,
I have not found them in the BMD either, I was told about them by Jane's daughter.
Strange that I have her wedding certificate dated 1930 stating that she was 20 when she married.
Could it be that she was notregistered,I know Solly died when he was 3, can't find that in BMD either,What now?

Solly is short for Solomon. It's a common Jewish name, but Old Testament names were frequently used by Protestants too.

On FreeBMD there are 24 births for people with the first name Solly in 1910 and this was the name they were registered with so it seems to be a name in it's own right. Most of the surnames sound Jewish to me.

There seem to be alot with that given name on the freebmd site, born about that time.
Many have foreign sounding surnames.

Lots of Solly's registered in 1910, mainly in London. Post his surname and I'll try to find him.
