Could someone please tell me.
If someone was born in Southern Ireland in late 1700's but died in London 1824 would he have had to apply for a passport to get to England?

No, it was under English rule until about 1921.

You still do not need a passport to travel between U.K. and Ireland on AER LINGUS so long as you have photo i.d. Ryanair is a different story.
You do need a passport to trave with them.

But when we flew from Belfast to Glasgow back in 1987 .... we needed passports to get into Scotland!

Husband was the manager for a university rugby team touring Ireland and Scotland, and daughter and I were hangers'-on


No problem, as we were all from Canada, and therefore had our passports.



................ until one of the young men called urgently for "Doc" (husband's nickname) to come and rescue him


He'd packed his passport in his suitcase, and they weren't about to let him in!



We hadn't needed them when we flew from London to Dublin a week earlier.
