Zoe DONT buy units to search from genes its very expensive way to search.
If you want BMD.s then freeBMD should be your first port of call.
Family Search ,free to search, may find you parish records.& 1881 census. THEN if you need other searches that they dont cover ask on here cos lots of us have Ancestry and Find My Past subs.

An Ancestry subscription is MUCH better value than the pay-per-view units purchased on this site. On Ancestry, you get all censuses 1841-1901, including images (even for 1881 - it is the only site that I know that has the 1881 images). You also get all BMD's 1837-2005, Scottish censuses (transcriptions only - not the images unfortunately) plus lots more (WW1 pension records, pallots marriage & baptism indexes, historical British phone directories, etc etc). All this for around £60 per year, which is excellent value.
