Does anyone know how to go about searching old newspapers. My Gt Grandmother committed suicide in 1904 in Manchester and l wondered whether there may be a newspaper report about it? I live in Cornwall so cannot research at local libraries, is it possible to ask for a search at a library? Lynne

Contact the main reference library in the area, they can search, copy and send any reports that there are and do it for a lot less than the records office.

Usually the search is free, you just pay for the copying and postage.
