my f-i-l's family has farmed a large place near Kendal since at least the late 1800s, and one side was involved prior to that. |

how good is that . you must have had a great smile on your face that day. i dont think this family has a lot of money but they did buy other properties to rent but not enough to own a farm though. i will just have to see if i can come up with anything i wonder if lancashire records office might hold anything |

well thats a thought. what seems strange is that on some census they are down as being farmers employing 6 men and publicans and living in the pub . why would they be living in the junction hotel yet have a large farm and employ 6 men. would this make you think they either owned or leased the farm. i know that 2 brothers also booght a cottage and rented it out. |

Are you sure they owned the farm? |

hi i am just going out for a couple of hours but wondered if anyone knew where i might find out info on what happened to properties over the years. i have found the farm and pub that some relatives were in since 1871 to 1901 and wondered how they purchased them and how the property changed hands. they were in the properties till at least 1901 but sadly no longer. they were the kenyon junction hotel culcheth lancashire, new hall farm culcheth lancashire |
