I'm trying to find out some information for my mother in law on her family on her mothers side. I'm a little stuck.
Looking to trace back Jessie Jenkins b. 11th Dec 1879 in Dalwais, Wales.
She married a Richard Argust also from Wales. (Trying to trace him too but have no D.O.B.)
Jessie and Richard had a daughter, Margerat Argust b. 1909 also I think there was a daughter called Nest.
If anyone can help I would be greatful. Ive looked on the cencus records but can't find a Jessie Jenkins with that place of birth.

I've never heard of a place called Dalwais.........are you sure it isn't Dowlais?

If you buy the marriage cert, you will find out Jeesie's father's name............might help with finding her on a census

I'm curious to know where you got Jessie's exact DOB.................if you haven't got her birth cert.................

Assuming you do have her exact date of birth I looked at Free BMD
The December quarter of 1879 has only one Jessie Jenkins born anywhere and not in Wales. It then occurred to me that the registration would probably have been done a few weeks after the birth and would have gone into the January of 1880.

This is the only Jessie Jenkins registered in the March Quarter of 1880

So it might be worth buying that certificate I think.

Assuming again that my previous find is the right Jessie I had a look at the 1881 census.

There are 3 possible female Jessies of roughly the right age in Wales

I looked carefully at Jessie M but she is described as already 2 in the details so would have been born before December 1879.
I think the most likely one is the third one listed. She is only 1 year old.

However you need to check this against Jessie's birth certificate and marriage certificate to be sure you have the right one because Jenkins is such a common name.
