Does anyone know if there are telephone listings available for between 1946-1948?

I have been trying to find my husbands grandfather for a few months now, and have got nowhere.

He left the family home sometime after 1948, to return to scotland, (we think!). I know the address he was at between 1946-48, and wondered if it would list him there.

I haven't found any trace of him anywhere, I know his name: William Blair, I know his date of marriage: 28/4/1936

But thats it.

I'm getting desperate now!! This man was my reason for searching for family, and hes the only one we can't find!

Any help or ideas would be great.

What area did he live in Angie?

He lived in birmingham, Erdington, B23 to be exact!

Sorry about that, the marriage wasn't registered until the next quarter though, i.e, July/August/Sept

Thanks for looking, I never thought of the electorol register, could I just ask whether there was anything for Charlotte Blair, his wife for that area?

When was he born? What Scottish towns did he have connections with?

There are 73 deaths for William Blair (born 1905-1915) between 1948 and 2006. Need to narrow it down

Unfortunately I do not have any ideas.
I know he was born in 1911, from his marriage certificate, he had a father called Andrew Blair, and I have his address at the time of marriage and also another address for when he was sent home from the army in 1946.

Thats all. I have thought of looking on the electoral register for 1946 ish, but I have emailed the relevant persons, but had no reply.

I cannot find a birth record for him either on freebmd or Scotlands people.

Any ideas on how to go forward would be appreciated.

I have just been on Scotlands people and there is 3 possible william blairs, no middle name listed.

The 3 areas are:

Port Glasgow/Renfrew
Irvine/Ayr
Old or West Kilpatrick/Dunbarton

Does this narrow it down?

I have tried to research again for William Blair,
I have cross referenced the William Blairs that come up on Scotlands People born 1910-1911, got these dates from his marriage certificate. Against death dates of the same name and same area.

I have not found a death certificate for the William Blair born in 1911 for old or west kilpatrick/Dunbarton?

There are 2 other possibilities from Port Glasgow and Irvine.

Does anyone know how to narrow these down without applying for all 3 birth certificates?

Does anyone know if you can obtain a scottish birth certificate with just the year and name and date of marriage?

Does anyone know also if there are other Scottish Websites with Birth/Death and Marriage details on?
