Think I've got it! Thanks Kath, there is a Quarhouse Lane just down the road in Brinscombe as well as a Toadsmoor Rd both names are in the enumeration district. |

It doesn't make much sense but it looks like Quarhouse to me. I'm pretty sure the first letter is a Q as I've seen it written like a 2 or a Z before. |

Hi all, can someone with access take a look at the 1871 English Census for Stroud district 7 pg 4 (and either side) and see what you make of the address/hamlet name. I just can't make it out into something that makes sense. I suspect it may be something to do with the multitude of mills that the town is famous for and that had been industrialised around then, so anyone who knows Stroud history might be able to help too. |
