Can anyone please tell me where I can find marriage records prior to 1837. I have checked Parish Records to no avail. Don't know where to go from here. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If they aren't available online then you may have to go to the Records Office in the area where they lived.

If you are too far away then you might find an online parish clerk for that parish or perhaps you could contact a professional to do a bit of research. That can be cheaper than asking the staff at a records office to do it for you (though that can be a possibility if you can't get there in person).

Try asking us in case one of us has inspiration or access to sources.

Thanks Sue, I am in Oz so no hope of getting to Records Offices. I will dig up what information I have and post it. Hopefully someone can come up with something.

The BVRI has 8 children of William & Elizabeth in Ulverston between John 1830 and Anne 1843. Suggests a marriage about 1829-30 but I can't find it on BVRI.

BVRI stands for British Vital Records Index.

Have you tried your nearest LDS Family History Centre for parish records? You can find addresses on www.familysearch.org

thanks Kath will have a look at that site. The Lancashire Parish Records have information from the 1700's and BMD from 1837, but there is a gap of the time I need, i.e. 1829-1830.
