I have been trying for ages to find a maiden name for my grt grandmother x7 but am getting no where. My grandad was christopher comben born portland ? dorset approx 1776. I have a ann i beleive to have been born about 1778, (my gt x7 grandmother) i havent confirmed this though as the info was given to me.I have 9 children born to them and all baptised at st georges church in portland dorset. I have dates for all the baptisms.
Does anybody have any idear were i look next?
Or is there a really nice person out there who would help me please?????

Do you have Christopher's parents? Or did he have a middle name?

On the 1841 censu he has given a middle name as john.
No i have no parents either.

Have you tried the Dorset OPC? (Online Parish Clerk?) Ive used the Cornish one in the past and they are superb - gave me not just the event Id queried but looked up others in the village she thought Id be interested in.

There are also 8 children of Christopher & Agnes in Portland between 1777-1792
Unfortunately there are no marriages of Christopher.

This is were im getting confused. Byatt Was also my grt grandfather x 3 ,middle name but on the 1841 census he has put his middle name as john. Im pretty sure this is him on the census as it has him with 2 children who i have confirmed and a granddaughter called ann byatt. Who i beleive was the daughter of his daughter also called ann who married a john byatt? But who died in childbirth ,this is if my detective skills are right.
I am so confused.

BVRI is British Vital Records Index, a set of 16 cd's that you can purchase from LDS. They are extracted from parish records so quite reliable.

OMG cant beleive you found the christening for the christopher byatt born 1805. Had him as a possiable but could find no record of a christening.Have confirmed christenings for 9 children all at the same church but still have another 6 unconfirmed - well 5 now as you found that one.

How much? Can't tell you because I purchased mine many years ago and, because I live in Canada, postage would have been much less.
I know there are people who have purchased them recently but can't remember how much they paid.

I have John - 1817, charlotte agnes amelia-1821,richard 1825,william 1819, robert 1813, died 1815)ann 1800 maria 1801 (died1802) maria 1803 richard 1808(died 1810) These are all baptizm dates.But i also have ,which were given to me Samuel 1818? Sophia1811?Samuel 1810?Edward1807?Robert 1816? Cant find them at all.
