I have just purchased an anti-virus programme on CD.
It will not start automatically and the instructions given are-
Open ' My Computer' (I'm OK with that) then - double click on the appropriate setup file - follow instructions.

Can someone help please, what is appropriate set-up file? - i have WindowsXP on my computer.

If you click on my computer after you have inserted the CD, it should show you the contents of the disc i the CD drive. There may be a file called set-up or run or something like that, double click on it to run it.

do you already have a similar security program installed ?
A lot of us use the free to downlaod AVG anti -everything
program ! which is about the best so far .

I know i am being stupid but this is what i find

Shared Documents

Hard Disc Drives
Local Disc(C)) and (D)

Devices with removable storage
DVD.RW
MMC/SD(F)
MS/MS Prp

Scanners and Camera

If i click on Local Disc C
I find details of all sorts of things but nothing that look remotely like the CD

Am i looking in the correct place?

Lindsay

Funny you should say that, the disc i have is AVG.
I did download the free copy but was having all sorts of problems, it really slowed down computer and everytime i turned it on it informed me it had found updates, this went on for 3 weeks, it seemed to be downloadfing the same 'updated' all the time and wouldnt even let me do it in the background, it just stopped me using the computer till it had done what it was doing, it was driving me mad so i decided to splash out on the real thing as when i queried it with AVG i was told that it was possible the file i had downloaded was corrupt.

I have now removed all of that and am attempting to start from scratch.

Open My Computer, Right click on the CD Drive and then Left click on Explore, you will now see the contents of the CD (after it spins up).

You should see a file ending with .exe or Set Up, that's the one to double click on to begin installation.
