adding a printer

am adding a printer to laptop and it says to disable protection (norton). does this mean i have to uninstall, then reinstall after?

You shouldn't need to actually uninstall it, if you open the software up you should have the option to disable it (switch if off).

hi folks, me again. i still cant get this printer installed! I have clicked on "norton" and cant find anywhere to temporarily disable protection. im a bit of a scaredy cat and afraid incase i muck things up. any tips please...? xxx

I had the same issue yesterday with my new PC, I couldn't find out where to switch off my anti virsu software, so I installed the drivers anyway, without any problems. I believe they advise you to switch off the anti-virus software because occasionally there can be a conflict between the softwares.

In any case, if you are using Norton you probably have a CD, so uninstalling and re-installing shouldn't be a massive problem.

thankyou for replying sean. i did try to install without taking off norton, but 4 red crosses with codes came up and said it couldnt install. im gonna be brave and take it off....thanks again
