Female details on a Marriage Certificate

Update

Ordered and received the marriage certificate yesterday for Elizabeth Fix. It only had her current married name on it and stated that she was a widow, but it did have her father's surname on it proving what her maiden name was and that I had the right person.

All in all I now know that she got married again and I have an extra clue on the certificate from one of the witnesses names

Thanks Looby Lou for the extra Info. Yes it all makes sense now. I will order the Marriage Certificate of Elizabeth Fix and see what names/details turn up.

Hi Sylvia, My ancestor married for the 2nd tme using her old married name, it also stated she was a widow and gave her fathers name which then gave me her maiden name - if that makes sence. #

I have another cert but this time it states ' formerly known as', so either way it should give you extra info to help your research. Good luck Lou

Thanks Sam & Christine.
Silly me of course it would have her Father's name as Webb on the marriage certificate, proving what her maiden name was.

Hi Sylvia

I don't know about the marriage cert, but I got a birth cert for one of my rellies. His mum was remarried and it showed her current married name, former married name and maiden name. So maybe looking at her later children could help.

Hi Sylvia

I've got a marriage cert for a widow who remarried. In the name box it just gives her last married name, not her maiden name BUT her father is still named so I could work out her birth name from that.

Hi, can anyone advise me.

I think one of my ancestors Elizabeth E Fix (nee Webb) got married again after her husband died in 1912. If I order her new marriage certificate, would it have her old married name and maiden name on the certificate, so I know I have the right person.
