Japanese interned in UK in ww2

Would anyone know if a 50year old Japanese man ( merchant seaman) married to a British girl and living in Wales would have been interned as an enemy alien in WW2, trying to find a little info out for a friend on his family if so any ideas where he would have been taken and how would he find out any more information |
