Thanks for that Alistair. Do you know any of the website names? I tried to search a few things in Google but didn't come up with much! I'll keep trying though if I know there are sites.

Hi Victoria

There are websites that help you to put a date to photographs by comparing the style of the clothes. Also, there are photographic sites which have the histories of photographers' studios, including what dates they were operating.

Hi

We have an old photo album from my nana's family and don't know who hardly any of the people in it are. There is a lady on the front page and then the next two pages are of my nana's father and mother. Presumably it was their album but there must be at least 40 other people in the album - some fantastic photos - and we can't put names to them. They will be dated from the late 1800's. Any ideas how I might be able to do some detective work and put names to faces?

PS: The photos were mostly taken by photographis firms in Leeds.
