Thanks folks - I'm delighted to hear it's not something I've got wrong.
It does seem as if coverage in those two records are very patchy. I wonder why Ancestry don't mention that?

They're apparently adding the medal card rolls in two batches.

Looking at the people I'm interested in, they seem to be going through the alphabet by Christian name, which seems to be rather an odd way of going about it (e.g. there are several Norths, but their Christian names only went up to about the letter E last time I looked).

The service records have been there for a while, but last time I looked they'd only done surnames A and B.

I think they've finished uploading the pension records; however, according to the Ancestry notes about the database, they don't include officers, or people who were killed in the war.

Ancestry has just added two 'new' sets of records:

British Army WWI Medal Rolls

British Army WWI Service Records

but I don't think that are complete (in fact I suspect they are hardly started) so my tip is: don't be fooled.

I've seen the originals at Kew and I know how vast these collections are, but for the surname Taylor there are currently just 12 service records (of which 9 are aka's) and just 8 records - and all 8 are aka's. Or have a I missed a trick?
I've looked to see if it says somewhere on the Ancestry site that they are, for instance working through the alphabet and have got to letter... but I don't see it. Does anyone know what's going on?
