Confused!!!!

Please can anyone enlighten me, I have Agnes Taylor born abt 1796 married to Francis McWatt, her parents i have are Charles Taylor and Mary Reid,on IGI they have several children i have checked dates of births on Scotlands people and now got correct dates, while i was checking their daughter Mary's birth 28 Jan 1768 her birth says 4th child and list John, Allan and James Reid has anyone else came across this other children listed on birth cert?.
Now has thrown me has think i have merged two different people with same names..........sorry if this has confused you but its completely flumexed me.

It's not a birth certificate, its an entry extracted from a Parish register. Birth certificates weren't done until 1837 .

Treat the IGI with a degree of scepticism, but it is very common to see a parish register entry along those lines. In fact, I would say it is more often the case than not, especially pre - 1837. Certainly all the ones I've seen suggest it is very common.
