Hi Linda,

Am really struggling with George Wiseman's in Leeds and Otley - They all seem to be called George. My George Wiseman was married to Charlotte Towns. I draw blanks everywhere. I would love to find the paternal line.

Any help you can give or suggestions would be amazing

Thank you

Thanks Linda for your time and effort, its very kind of you.

Like your nan's style, pianist!

Jenelia, if he has no father on his birth cert he is more than likely illigitimate. It wasn't uncommon for people in "invent" fathers to save face in front of their partner. My nan decided to put her grandfather as her father (deceased of course) and she changed his occupation from a brick layer to a pianist!

Will have a look for Martha, but a bit difficult with no DOB or birth place

Hi Linda

Wonder if you could help, have been trying to trace Martha Elizabeth Cook, I have the birth certificate for her son which suggests shes not married. He was born Great Yarmouth 1884 Henry George Cook in a workhouse. What I do find puzzleing is that Henry George Cook' s Marriage certificate 1911 shows his father as being Richard Cook. Who I also can't find?

Julie,

something doesn't add up here, is is on the 1891 as single, but according to the childrens births Rose E would have been born by then. There are no births of a Rose E Cane or Florence E Cane in Yorkshire around that time. There is a birth for

William Bertram Cane 1895 Jan-Feb-Mar Rotherham Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Yorkshire - West Riding

might be the son

John , as he was only in his 40's 0n 1901 he could have lived to a real old age, it would mean searching 30 years worth of deaths :(

Linda,

If you think you can help, I am trying to find the death (date and place) of my great grandfather.

His name is William Sands, born 1859, Openshaw, Manchester.
I have him tracked on every census through to 1901 when he was living in Middlesbrough, N. Yorkshire as a widower after the death of ggrandmother Maria. He was living as a Boarder at 16 Olive Street.

I have had absolutley no luck, it seems as though he disappeared off the planet !!

Many thanks

from the 51 it looks more like Backstow to me , the last letter isn't the same as other N's on the page

unfortunately I can't read Mary's place of birth to search and see if he is with her
