Some census as early as 1801 do contain names and occupations if you are very lucky. There are also some census and Poll Books going back to the 1600's, which can contain a surprising amount of information. It all depends on luck of finding those that have survived, you should enquire at the Archives of the relevant counties in which your family lived. |
