Quite a lot of parish entries have been put online now so it's always a good idea to check the various websites first, or Google to see if anyone has transcribed entries for a particular county.

Some of the websites I've found particularly useful have been:

www.familyhistoryonline.net

http://www.cosford-database.co.uk/

http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/england/somerset/som-parish.htm

http://www.parishregister.com/searchpage.asp

www.familysearch.org (for IGI entries)

Also, if you check out Genfair website you can actually purchase various parish transcriptions for various counties in the UK:

http://www.genfair.co.uk/search.php?search=parish%20records

Hope that helps a bit. There are loads more online but these are just some of those that I have used.
