Hi, sorry I couldn't get online last night.
According to the wedding cert, Robert Smith was a Labourer (big help I know!)
I've just looked on the census's Laptop Dancer suggested and both Robert Smith's are Stone Masons!
Also, the witnesses on the cert are:
John Pearce (Joseph's father) and Henrietta Pearce (I don't know who this can be as Joseph didn't have a sister called Henrietta, but named his first daughter this)
I will keep looking!
Thanks,
Vicky

Thanks Laptop Dancer,
I will have a look at the marriage cert when I get home to see what Robert's occ was and to see if I can rule these 2 possibilities out or in.
Thanks for looking for me,
Vicky

Hi Suzanne,
I haven’t got the marriage cert with me at the minute, but I remember that there were no Smith’s as witnesses. Also I have tried the 1841 census and I haven’t found her so far. I don’t know whether her name was wrongly transcribed or maybe I’m not looking in the right place!
Thanks,
Vicky

I have an Elizabeth Ann Smith who married a Joseph Pearce on 30.09.1856 in Greenwich. According to Census’ she was born about 1836 in Marylebone, London and her husband was born about 1835 in Rodborough, Gloucestershire.
On the Wedding certificate it says her father was a Robert Smith (I haven’t got his occupation to hand at the moment, but I will add it later), but I can not find an Elizabeth Smith with father Robert on census’.
I have put this request on here before and people have suggested he may have died, but how can I be certain?
Can anybody find an Elizabeth Smith or similar name that I might have missed or suggest something that I could try to get through this brick wall!
The children and Elizabeth and Joseph have are:
Henrietta – 1858 Alfred James – 1861 Joseph Robert – 1865 Stephen John – 1867 Elizabeth Ann – 1870 James – 1876
I don’t know whether these names will be a clue to who Elizabeth’s family are,
Thanks for any help given,
Vicky X
