Oops !! Have just double checked my records and John Bolam did sign the marriage cert !! So he was alive in 1873. Sorry...

Thankyou both for that. It looks possible that he may have died then as he didn't sign the cert, he was just named.

Did he sign as a witness in 1873...or was he just named?
If he didn't sign, he could have died.

My great grandfather had been dead nearly 25 years when he and his occupation were named on his daughter's marriage cert.....no mention of deceased.

Hi there
Can anyone help me locate my ancestor John Bolam on the 1861 census ?? I have him in 1851

10 New York John Bolam Head Married 50 Coal Miner N/land Byker
Washington Sarah Bolam Wife Married 40 N/land Chirton
Co. Durham Ann Bolam Daughter Unmarried 6 N/land North Shields

but he goes missing after this. He was born in 1801c in Northumberland and was alive according to his sons marriage cert in 1873.
Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks
