It's possible using tree programs like Genopro (www.genopro.com) but I am not sure how people do it here on GR.

I think they may use the option of a free account on GR in addition to their main one.

Whether if you create the early part of the tree offline then transfer it to GR by Gedcom it would work I'm not sure.

I think if it were me (bearing in mind that the GR tree is really for making contacts and you could always explain to anyone you share it with or just send a message with bare details) that I'd perhaps cheat on the bottom part of the tree. I'd perhaps make it look as if one of the sets of parents were aunt and uncle and write notes to explain.Anything really to get the names on the tree then be able to go on back.
Perhaps you could give your mother a false extra spouse with the same name as herself and go up from both mothers? Or your father 2 wives with your mother's name?

I always have Living people unnamed on the GR tree anyway.
