Henry Cranfield born 1851 illegitamate, married Emma Balls. (My Husbands Gt garandparents) I am having problems finding a GRO number to get their marriage cert. The one I sent for was 4a 332 Lexden,1869 , and is incorrect. He was b. in Copford. Essex and married and died in the same area.

I to am wondering whether it has been mis transcribed, is there anything I can do or can you sugest anything else?

Looking at what you have found, Nanfield could well have been written instead of Cranfield, silly me, it still leaves me wondering do I send for it and take a chance!!

I think it would be too much of a coincidence for it not to be the one you want. I would order it just using Emma Balls name.
