census or BMD. I know he existed because he's my husbands direct blood ancestor! I also have his marriage cert, and he'd with his wife and kids on the 1901 census. I'm ok at sorting out other peoples trees, but when its my own I have no ideas, am at a standstill.

Hi Star,

If you add the details I am sure someone will try and find them, including me, although others are so much better at it.

Linda, youre not so bad yourself!
Getting very fed up with this family research. My husbands ancestor was John Neville Smith born 1873 in Harbury, Warks. (Yes a dreaded Smith lol, but an unusual middle name and he was baptised in a teensy village!) His parents were Henry and Ellen. (Ellens maiden name unknown). Ive had a mooch round Harbury cemetery but cant find anything. He married Elizabeth Morgan in 1896 and had 7 kids that we know of. On the 1901 census in Bishops Itchington, Warks.

Linda, bet, if you'd known it was a John Smith, you wouldn't have offered!

I had a look on the BVRI discs, nothing with the middle name.

Hi Star,

I subscribe to Find My Past and find quite a lot on there that I can't find on Ancestry.....and vice versa.

There's a John Smith in 1891 who was born 1873, Harbury. He's listed as a boarder in Newcastle on Tyne but it's actually an army barracks. He's a gunner, Royal Artillery.

Update, just saw Linda's response.

Thankyou all (bows graciously) youre wonderful. Linda, I always thought Ancestry had everything, makes you wonder just how much they're missing!

Just an idea - have you thought Ellen's maiden name may be Neville and that John Smith was actually born John Neville?
