Hi all,

I am following a relative who appears to have been born in the East Indies and my Geography knowledge is 'sadly lacking' - I have tried googling but am just getting more confused.

On 1871 - I have William Wilson born c 1843 East Indies - looks like Bellany !

On 1851 he appears to be in Liverpool with his parents - all marked as 'british subject'

Can't find him on 1861 just at the minute.

Any Ideas on how I can find his birth etc and where Bellany was?

Any help of information much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dea x

Thanks Kath - Yes, that's him on 1851

Lynne - I really don't know very much - his father looks like he was a porter/employer? on 1851 - Can't find him anywhere else yet.

Thanks Kath,

I had just decided you had found a VERY probable for me on the 1841 but wondered where Martha might be so had a further look around.

THEN - I found her + John + William - 6 months old - still at the same address as on 1851

Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece 566; Book: 19; Civil Parish: Liverpool; County: Lancashire; Enumeration District: 35; Folio: 6; Page: 4; Line: 16; GSU roll: 438718.

My problem now is - on this census they were all born in County !!!!

SSoooo confusing !

The Bellany placename does not produce any results from Googling, but there is a Bellamy in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). This may be only a road name though.

Multimap comes up with lts of variations on Bellany - eg Belene etc.

If noted as british subjects on the census, would the birth be listed at GRO as one of the overseas births?

Thank you Ivy,

I am REALLY stuck on this one.

I can't find anything on overseas births.

Any help appreciated, no matter how small !

Just googled 'Bellang' and got a whole load of 'very naughty' sites come up.

It looks like a very interesting place.!
