sorry Gill I mean Harriett for 1851 and 1861. She would be McClelland for 1861.

Jill Harriett married in 1852 Greenwich to Robert McClelland. I have Robert on the Census from 1871 and so on with daughters Caro0line and Agnes later changed to Harriett at Baptism. With them is 2nd wife Ellen and Step Mother. No Gill got all that thanks but I need Harriett for 1851 and 1852 as Harriett McClelland. I also need Mary Ann Akley as I can only find her for 1851.

Thanks Marion in OZ

When did Harriet marry and who did she marry?

Hi Jill,
Yes thats the person I have emailed. I cant understand why there is nothing found on this place. You are also correct in thinking my GGG Grandfather could very well have been a Clerk in a Warehouse. In the five years I have been reseaching only one entry can be found for my GGGrandmother in the 1841 Census. I have never found her in the 1851 or 1861 Census. In 1864 I do have her death cert but under her married name. She was born in 1830 Harriett Ackley Fathers name Thomas Ackley. She can be found in the 1841 Census staying with the Boughtons who were Stock Brokers. Mrs Boughton was also born Harriett Ackley (Loughborough)so she must have been my GGGrandmothers Aunt? There is also a mention of Mary Ann Ackley Niece born 1839 Bethnal Green but thats where it starts and ends for Mary Ann is not to be found anywhere after that for 1851. I just thought this place was worth a go.

found a reference to someone on curious fox who obviously knows something about this.

Could he not just have been a clerk in a warehouse?

Can anyone help me please in regards to the Warehouse Clerks And Drapers School Purley in Surrey. I believe it was set up for orphaned children in the 1800s. I did come across a message posted on another site but it only gave a contact name for any information. I have sent them an email but I am wondering if any members could shed anything further as I know nothing about this place. The reason I am asking is that my Great Great Great Grandfather gives his profession on my Great Great Grandmothers Marriage Cert as Warehouse Clerk.

Thankyou Very Much
