Hi could anyone tell me how i would find out if my grandfather was a free mason we were told he was he had a pub in Attalbough Norfolk for years when we were kids ( about 28 years ago ) his name was George Ashford my nans name was Annie . any help would be great

Hi Alyson,

Don't know whether this is of any help but the address of the Norwich Masonic Hall is:

47 St Giles Street, Norwich, Norfolk NR2 1JR

Fax: 01603 623266

A number of the lodges meet at this hall so they may be able to advise. It appears that Lodge No 6539 (St Edmund's Lodge) is the Lodge for Attleborough but at the moment I cannot bring up their individual details.. some problem with the server..but perhaps they meet at the same hall. You can google Provincial Grand Lodge of Norfolk and have a look.

You are a godsend just phoned them the man i spoke to seemed to know my grandfathers name his is going to gather info and get back to me .
