John & Osmond Newport,Oxfordshire.

Can anyone help me trace a John & Osmond Newport,brothers from Oxford who emigrated to Canada in about 1900,any help much appreciated.

Hi Andy ...

There doesn't seem to be any Osmond NEWPORT appearing on the 1901 or 1911 Canadian censuses (you can do a very basic search on the Ancestry website).

However, there is an ON living in Kidlington (Oxon.) on the 1901 census.

Ancestry also has an ON marrying an Elizabeth Ann GORDNER in the "Ontario, Canada, Marriages 1857-1924" database - think there's a very good chance this is him, as it's such an unusual name. (I can't get any further information as this would require world-wide membership.)
