I don't know Kim

I looked for a death for the soldier but didn't find one.
Of course he could have died abroad.....

Sorry I can't help...but this reply will nudge this up the board.

Sorry Gwyn , his name in 1851 is spelt Kerry, the spelling often varies .I have it as Cerry ,Kerry Ceary , Carey on census and certificates !

Hi Gwyn ,in 1851 his name is spelt Cerry. He worked as an Ag Lab , also a brick maker and he also worked as a labourer on the railways , as did his sons.
1851 is the first record I can find for him.I seem to remember my Grandmother telling me he came over from Ireland because there was no work and people were starving , but I was very young at the time .There is no fathers name given on his marrage certificate .

From other references, eg. his children's marriage certificates...what was Abraham's occupation?
What 'event' do you have nearest 1841 to pinpoint him?

I couldn't see him in 1851...How is he indexed?

Would anyone here have advice on what to do next please ?
I have been searching for my GG Grandfather Abraham Carey , Cerry born about 1826 in the 1841 census for over a year now .The very few people with the same name I have been able to eliminate by following them to the 1851 census .My Abraham shows up in the 1851 census giving his birthplace as Chadlington Oxfordshire but there is no baptism listed for him.
I have found an entry in 1841 for Abraham Carberry born Ireland 1826 at Woolwich Barracks Kent .His occupation is soldier and I cannot find him in any future census,s .I am not sure where to go from here , where else I can search to find out more about Abraham Carberry and if there is any way I can even link him to my GG Grandfather.
