Has anyone come across a relative who was buried months after their death? I know my g grandfather died in leicester 1/12/1931 and according to records for Leic Gen. Hospital was sent to Oxford for burial (at this point in time I do not know why he was sent there) I have (with assistance) found his place of burial in Oxford in an 'unpurchased grave' with three others but it wasn't until 22/3/1932 - Any ideas as to why the delay ? |

Possibly a coroners inquest caused the delay? |

Reburials are not all that uncommon. One might want to move an old graveyard yo build a shopping mall or a highway, or because of coastal erosion, or their first burial might always have been thought of as temporary waiting until they could be buried in the Tyne Cots and Arlingtons of this world. |

amokavid, Thanks for your reply. As he died in 1931 I cannot view the hospitals records myself, but Leic. Records Office consulted the admissions/discharge registers for me and in their letter - apart from the sent to Oxford bit -also stated that ' there were no medical notes available and no record of his history before his admittance' |

Let's hope that wasn't actually the case. |
