Searches you make on GR exclude your own tree.

You know, I did a search for an ancestor and he never showed up in the results - even though I have him in my tree. Do you think the search excludes 'own trees'? It makes sense to do that, but it shook my confidence a little in the system.

It wasn't here that you made your tree public, there isn't that option.

Certainly on Ancestry you have the choice of going 'public' or keeping a tree private, so it must be that site you are thinking of.

Oh heck - I could have sworn that I made my tree 'public'. Am I thinking of my Ancestry.co.uk one...?

I'd been hoping that anyone anywhere could find my tree and feel free to view it.

Sam is right but what you could do is set up a free or paid tree on Tribal Pages.

You can privatise it or leave it open to all but whichever way you chose you can give other people direct access.

It is easy to upload a copy of your tree from here and download it to Tribal....Or is it the otherway around? I can never remember which is up and down!!

As far as I know, you can't do it. People can only access your tree is you specifically give them permission so if there was a link on other sites, people would be able to access without permission being granted.
