Young- Alexander and Cecelia (Cant)

Frederic (Eric) Report 11 Oct 2008 03:18

My grandmother, Christina Archer Henderson, was fostered by another family around 1913 in Burntisland, Scotland.
Christina's mother, Helen Henderson (nee Rennie) died shortly after the birth of Christina and her twin sister, Janet. Janet also died shortly after birth (3 months).
The family that "fostered" Christina were - Alexander Young and Cecelia Young (nee Cant). It is believed that Alexander Young was a house painter and prior to that painted locomotives.

They lived in High Street, Burntisland - possibly number 132.

The "Youngs" were a much older couple born around 1858-1859.
They were married on 04 March 1898 in Burntisland.
I think Alexander may have had a brother, William

My grandmother was brought up under the name of Margaret Young and only found out about her true heritage when she was getting married (1933) and needed her birth certificate.
Fortunately, I have traced my grandmothers family line (Henderson) with success.

The name Margaret Young was Alexander's mothers name. Oddly enough my mother was given this name also (Margaret Young Morrison)

Am trying to find (hopefully) living relatives of this family as my mother has old photos that she feels need to go back to their true family.

If you are able to offer any advice on perhaps how I can locate living relatives or have details on living relatives, it would be very much appreciated.

Please contact me either by MESSAGE to me directly on GR or posting a note on this thread.

Many thanks!!
